What’s New for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator?
Although the Jeep Gladiator is a relatively new entrant to the market, it gets some updates heading in the 2021 model year. The latest Jeep Gladiator expands upon its mechanical configurations. Now you can order the Gladiator with a diesel engine that provides optimal fuel economy and power with more than 440 LB-FT of torque. You can also choose from a manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, depending on your preferred engine and trim. Aside from the new optional diesel engine, the Gladiator carries over with the same trims and dimensions as it had in 2020. All Gladiator trims seat five people and has four doors. Four-wheel drive is standard on all Gladiators.
New for 2021, the Gladiator is available with one of two engines on most trims. The standard engine is the gasoline engine that generates 285 HP and 260 LB-FT in torque. The second engine is a diesel. With this engine, you’ll get a power output of 260 HP and 442 LB-FT of torque. Both have six cylinders. The six-speed manual transmission is standard on the gasoline engine, and you can also select an eight-speed automatic.
The base Gladiator trim is the Sport. With this trim, you’ll get the basics and a few extras. The Sport features an eight-speaker audio system for exceptional sound quality. It comes with a five-inch infotainment display and a USB charging port. A few Sport variants are available too, including the Willys and Willys Sport. A folding top, folding windshield, and removable doors are standard. Next, the Overland adds a few niceties, including automatic headlights, a larger seven-inch infotainment display with an updated interface, a second USB port, a leather steering wheel, and automatic climate control. The Rubicon follows with more off-road capability and endurance. This trim has 33-inch tires and a locking differential. Shock absorbers translate to a smoother ride. The Mojave tops the list with a locking front differential and a reinforced frame. Several add-on features are available, including a spray-in bedliner and a black hardtop that can be converted to a soft top. LED lights are available alone or in a package, along with leather seats and a more extensive infotainment system with an 8.4-inch display screen. A tow hitch is available as well. Available safety aids include forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, and parking sensors.
